I’ve done this full twice now and would definitely do it again or recommend to a friend; just because it is in my home city and such a party. However, would not recommend for anyone’s first full or if they do not like hills. The almost mile long hill on the 163 freeway is brutal! But the rest of the course makes it worth it.

This was my first year doing the Carlsbad Half Marathon, and I'll definitely be back! Everything was well organized. The race is small enough that it's manageable (easy parking, no long lines, etc.) but big enough that you still have some spectators and excitement from the crowd. This race goes all out on swag - we received both a long-sleeve tech shirt (with a great floral, tropical design!) as well as a really nice half-zip jacket. You definitely get your money's worth with this race. My only disappointment was that the course was described as fast and flat, but there are definitely a few steep rolling hills that I was not prepared for. Overall, a fantastic event and would definitely recommend.

This was an incredible second marathon! I love that the first half is downhill and the second half adds a bit of challenge with rolling hills. For all 26.2 miles, the scenery is just beautiful. It was tempting to stop running to take pictures! Revel does a great job with their race management. Wonderful support and customer service. Loved the shirt and free socks. Will definitely be back for another REVEL marathon!

For "just" a 5k, this race felt extra special and was much more fun than the average weekend 5k. I loved that the packet pickup was at a fun restaurant/bar the night before, it really set the tone for the weekend. The course was flat with the exception of a quick over and back hill - it's steep, but over quickly. The rest of the course was pancake flat in a park near the San Diego harbor. The atmosphere at this race, both during the race and afterwards at the party, was extremely fun! Great vendors, awesome Stella Artois beer garden, a make-your-own infused water station, and gourmet meals to try make this race stand out from the rest. There were also cooking and live fitness demos/group exercise. We ate so much free food afterwards, my husband and I were stuffed for the rest of the day! There are no shirts, but honestly, that's ok! I'd rather have the food, beer, and adorable medal - last year it was a cute pineapple and this year will be an avocado medal. Perfect, right? I'm looking forward to this year's race on October 20, 2018 and will certainly be back for each year after!
