As per usual, I was running late to the start on a gorgeous perfect temperature day in the Low Country. Just an excuse for a warm-up run. The crew at the start line cheered me on and the cops giggled and high-fived me as I sprinted to catch up. I still managed to finish the race mid-pack, a tiny bit wobbly, but plenty of food and beer awaited my finish to gobble. That's one of the best features of this race, EVERYONE gets fed. (Standard course nibbles...bagels, fruit, water, beer, peanut butter filled pretzels). Oh, and the course, beautiful! Locals and tourist alike are treated to a vintage trot through this great city, taking in the historical homes, the Battery & the sea, and King street. The finisher shirt this year was colorful and fun. Parking is easy and the expo is centrally located. I do wish the food and beer stations at the end were better organized and that the expo had more vendors. A little swag in the swag bag doesn't hurt either. Overall, this is a must-run race and one of my favorites!
