This was my first marathon and overall it was an awesome experience.

EXPO:
This was the biggest race I've ever participated in and also the biggest expo I've attended. Lines were reasonable, staff was helpful and nice and they had lots of great swag!

The only downside to the expo was the women's tech tees were way too small. I ordered a medium (which I wear in everything) and it was TIGHT. I was not the only one with this problem. Several of us went to the shirt exchange booth and everything was returning for a larger size. By the time we got there they had plenty of XS and S and even some M, but nothing larger than that.

RACE:
It was a gorgeous day for a race! I underestimated the hills and was definitely hurting at the end of the race.

My only problem with the race was the time limit. I knew several people who got picked up in the trail vans because they were moving too slow but the race clock hasn't even hit six hours yet (and from what I can tell on the RNR site you have six hours from the time the LAST runner crosses the start line) I definitly think they should follow their own rules or even give the runners more time. I understand it is costly to close streets, but everyone should get a chance to run their full marathon (within reason of course) without having to be shuffled along.

BUT the crowds were awesome, running through music city was great and the medal is now a new favorite.

Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back.

This was my first half marathon back when I was in college. The course began/ended near campus and had lots of crowd support. The course was pretty easy (except for the uphill the last .3 miles). Great race for a first time half marathoner!

Small expo, but it's a small town so that was to be expected.

Water/Gatorade/Gel stations were awesome! I felt there were plenty of aid stations along the course.

LOTS of porta potties on the course and places to use a bathroom before the start.

MUST RUN if you are in western KY/TN.

I ran this years ago right after high school. It's such a fun race and easy to get to for anyone in KY or surrounding areas. Flat and fast. The race is always in July so it is HOT. Great organization and a fun way to sightsee Owensboro. Get some BBQ after the race and make a weekend of it! Oldest race in the state!
