I love this race and this race course! This was my third time racing the Des Moines Half Marathon and love it every time I run it! Perfect time of year to run a half marathon, temp was about 40 degrees when we started and about 45 when I ended. The marathon and half marathon course split just before mile 2, and the course takes the half marathoners around Water Works park, loops you around Gray's Lake (beautiful view) before taking you to Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and running that to the finish line. Love this race!!!! There's about 6,000 runners for the half & full marathon so it's the perfect size of race. I love that we start and end downtown Des Moines, not far from the state capitol building. Such a beautiful downtown area, people and animal friendly, with lots of trails around for runners/walkers alike. I highly recommend this race to all!

With overcast skies and lower than normal temperatures, this was a great weekend for a half marathon in July! The course scenery was great for the first 7 miles, going downtown Chicago. The last 6 miles were out in the open and not much to look at. The course was long, my garmin watch read 13.9 miles (but I'm thinking the course was about 13.5 miles in length).

This was a greatly run race, the course was gorgeous, but it was well above average temperatures and they had to shut down the marathon course for people's safety. Would love to rerun this race because I think the next time around would be even better and I'd get to see more of the beautiful scenery without overheating!

This is a fun course to just have fun on! You will not PR on this course, but this is a fun trip to Vegas, right?! The race course is a cool atmosphere but there are so many people who run this race that have poor running etiquette that you have to weave in and around people. This is a fun course to run and a fun vacation, so just make sure that you have fun with this race!

Was my first Rock n Roll race so wasn't sure what to expect. Was stuck in traffic and had to walk a mile to get to the start line area. The course wound around the city (I'm from the midwest) and was hoping to run along the water (the bay or the ocean). So that was disappointing because when you think San Diego, you think beach!
