A great way to see the neighborhoods of New Orleans. If you don't mind humidity, its a great race to get away from winter in other parts of the country since this one is in February! Its a typical RnR race- so if that is your thing, this one is no different. Same standard expo, same cheap t-shirt, cute landmark medal, etc...

This race is a great first marathon! The weather is unpredictable (it IS Oklahoma) so it might be 70 degrees or it might be 33 degrees and raining. The community really comes out for the event, regardless of the weather. The neighborhoods are out with jello shots and donut holes while the race takes you thru the best parts of downtown/midtown Tulsa.

This course is TOUGH! As many people say- not at all what you think you'll find in Kansas! Lots of good communication. The two aid stations on the 25K are well stocked. This race is a super technical single track trail. Lots of rocks, most people fall at least once, 1500 ft of gain in the 25k! I loved every second of it and am planning on doing the 50k next year!

Overall? Poorly organized race that was clearly meant to drive traffic to their organizers (HITS) triathlon events.
Tshirt/SWAG: SAME SHIRT for every distance. We don't list any distance other than the marathon, so congrats on your Omaha Marathon shirt even though you ran the half, 10k, 5k, etc. The medal is a really nice design, but then we went and put the same ribbon on every distance. So my half medal says Omaha Marathon...
Expo: a few tents in the parking lot of a stadium with no clear direction of whats happening.
Aid Stations: It would be nice if the volunteers knew what was in the cup they were handing me. I only want water, but since HEED barely has any color to it and nothing was labeled, they weren't sure. Also, don't say you'll have Hammer Gel at every aid station and then only have orange slices and bananas.
Scenery: Mostly sketch outer parts of downtown. Not much for looking. Little shade in the blazing sun.
Parking/Access: The participant guide pretty much says (I'm paraphrasing) "Well, our race is downtown and theres lots of parking, so just find some. You may have to pay $8"

Not going back. Pick another Nebraska Race.

My first mid-distance trail race and it was awesome! You have the choice of a few different loops to create your own course, so to each his own! Each loop begins and ends at the start/finish/aid/bathroom main area so every few miles you have a choice of what to do next. The race director provided lots of communication so I could manage expectations, etc. The aid station was super well stocked and I felt welcome and appreciated by all. Awesome time!
