Either you love Rock n Roll Races or you hate them. I actually like them with the exception of the swag truck they employ from time to time to pick up people who are not going to make the time limit. The DC race is good with the course going by most of the most popular sight-seeing places in town. There is one huge hill at mile 6 but other than that it is not bad all all (unlike the second half of the marathon). Awesome medal and nice finish line area at RFK stadium (which badly needs a paint job). Would do this race again.

Course is extremely fast. Ran my fastest half marathon in 1 hour and 40 minutes. This was the first race for the crawlin crab and it didn't disappoint. This race will be get better and better. J&A is a great organization and have great swag. J&A racing also has many other races in the Hampton Roads area to include the Wicked 10K, Shamrock Marathon, and the popular Surf and Santa 5 miler.

Boy what a race this was. Really beautiful part of the country to run in. Set in the Western North Carolina Mountains this race starts at 3300 feet on the track at Appalachian State University and goes up from there to almost 4000 feet. Course is mostly uphill after mile 3 so get your hill training in before tackling this beast. The beauty of the area is the best part. Green mountains everywhere. Loved this race.

Course has a few hills on it but nothing major. The biggest factor is the weather. It was really warm this year and if they keep these same dates in the future it will be warm and humid at the the least. There was a problem with the course been long which caused the RD to make adjustments to the time. Kuddos to him for admitting there was a problem and fixing it. Race should continue to get better as the years go by.

I really love this race. Ran the half this year and the full in 2012. Course is a bike path for most of the race with lots of shade trees over 90% of the course. There is a one mile "trail" part which was not bad at all. Weather this time of year can be a wild card with heat and humidity but this year was great with cool weather to start and i was done by the time it was getting warm. Guy plays the accordion on the course and its great. Can't recommend this race strong enough.
