I'm not the best at reviews but I promise you this is the most fun you'll ever run as a full.
Williams Route 66 Marathon is by far my favorite Marathon that I have completed to date. You'll get to see Downtown Tulsa, run through the University of Tulsa campus, and see some of our riverside. My review is more about the organization and crowd support this race has. Around mile nine or ten, the neighborhood has a block party just for us. They have jello shoots, Fireball gummy bears (my favorite), Fireball shots, and more. All along the course the awesome citizens of Tulsa cheer you on and have their own block parties and water ,some snacks and shots for the runners. The race itself has Gatorade and water at ever stop and GU along the course. Also the last 2 years around mile 15-16 Whataburger gave runners free hamburgers as well if you wanted it. At mile 20, the water/Gatorade stops are every 1 mile with pretzels. Tulsa citizens have set the standard in my book for race supports from the locals. Now the swag is awesome as well. If you run the double 5k and full or half you'll get a shirt and a jacke and a Doubler award. Being a club member (Half Fanatics,Maniacs and 50 States)you will get a special custom Route 66 marathon club medal also if you choose to do the world's shortest ultra marathon, The Center of the Universe Detour ads another .3 miles and you'll get a special coin saying you did the detour from Santa. Before and after the race, Marathon Maniacs and Fanatics have a special VIP section as known as Maniac Corner where we take a before race picture of all the members. You can purchase VIP and have VIP packet pick up an indoor bathroom before the race and after race special indoor lounge with all kinds of food and beverages. The clubs even get an after race VIP area has private food and drinks for club members. Ask me about the race and I be glad to answer. I have ran the Half and the Full.
