If you want to run a course with beautiful scenery, run this race. You get amazing ocean view, fancy houses and old school mansions from the 1900s. This race sells out and for good reason, so sign up early. Also, I recommend doing early bib pick up the day before, because parking, while good and plentiful takes a while to get to. Newport is a old school tourist town and the roads are small and windy and the Fort only has one way in and one way out. This is why I suggest early bib pick up. The shirts are nice too

The race itself is nice, hilly, nothing super steep, but it isn't flat. Rolling hills is a great description for this race. As I said the views are amazing and the weather this time of year, is usually decent, high usually in the 60s Today was sunny and 60 and just amazing weather to run in.

My only issue: Aid stations not having water ready so having to stop and try and get water, I needed it today.

Overall I highly recommend this race, and as it usually takes place on or around my birthday, I will probably do it again.

"Great Race, just be prepared for hills"

So, I ran this today, currently in pain in my hotel room, but I figure this makes me the most honest.

First off, the parking for everything is great, tons of it, and very easy to get to. My BF and I traveled to this race and stayed in Erlanger, KY, took 15 minutes to get to everything. The expo is nice, lots of stuff, but not overly packed, you actually have room to get around. And the swag, OMG so great, you get a shirt, poster and a nice back pack.

Morning of race, race does start early 6:30am so be prepared for that, but plenty of parking near the start. The corrals are nicely set up and let me tell you, so..many...portapotties, I don't think there were any long lines at all, which is really the best. I was able to find my pacers easily and they were super nice, though I didn't end up staying with them. And the corrals take off in decent time, not much waiting around after 6:30.

The race itself, SO MANY HILLS!!! It is a beautiful course and you get some amazing scenery to look at, and the neighborhoods you run through are FULL of people cheering you on. There is music almost everywhere, but yeah, the hills crushed me. I went out too fast for the major hills in the park and that cost me in the end.

The aid stations are every mile, and they are well set up gatorade is first water is second, so you know and they give out all sorts of food along the course and at mile 23 they hand out wet towels, which was so nice.

The start and finish line are not too far apart so if you have a cheering section they should be able to find you no problem. You get a super nice medal, heavy too, and plenty of food and drinks, also the after party is really nice with booths and food trucks and more music.

The only complaint, is from my BF, when he was trying to find where to stand to watch the start, no one was really able to help him, and that is a tad annoying, but overall, that is really the only issue, he was able to find me again at mile 5 and he saw me at the finish.

I would recommend this race, just be prepared for a tough but gorgeous course, and even though it was hard, I did set a new PR so, overall, pretty great day

So, this is a huge race, lots of people and they expect them all to put them selves into the correct pace area, and no one does. I had to whip around MANY walkers and I lined up in the first wave (too fast for even me, but I knew what would happen) I also almost fell at the beginning as I was trying to get around more walkers and someone stepped on my foot.

Overall though, I enjoy this race, BAA is fun to run for and I always love the people out of the course yelling and getting to run over the Marathon finish line, I just wish walkers were forced to the back, cause someone is going to get hurt.

This is a small, non flashy race, No crowds but some people out there to cheer you on. The course it self is pretty flat, but there are some hills. The volunteers are great and plenty of aid stations. The race director is great, plenty of emails and he puts his number on every mile marker just in case you have issues. The scenery isn't amazing, but it isn't terrible. After the race they printed out my finish time right away which is awesome. Not much after other then water and some food. The medal is super nice, as is the shirt. Overall I would recommend this race, it's small but nice and if you are looking for some quiet running time then this is for you.

This was the first year for this race, and it was run so well. I live in MA, so I drove down to NJ on Saturday, found the store for bib pick up quite easily and quickly got my bib, shirt and other swag and was one my way to where I was staying. We were also told to get to the race area and hour and half before start time, odd but ok.

Did get to the race at the proper time and found out why, as they run the 5k first and close off roads into the park for that. But getting parking was easy and well run. Getting to the start line was easy, and the race itself was great. Some hills but nothing crazy and they always had the side of the road we were running on closed, so that was great. Water stations were well placed and run and signs and markers were easy to see.

I was shocked this was this was the first time for this race because it was incredibly well run, I hope they keep it up, cause they do a great job
