the BrickDash 5K takes place at LEGOLAND Theme Park. Runner begin the race in the parking lot and weave through full length of the park. There are a number of water stations and lots of volunteers on the track. First Aid does take some time to respond as there are no first aid stations set up along the race route. Runners receive a medal after crossing the finish line. The medal is quite original is made of LEGO bricks. After the race individual awards are given out. This is a fun race benefiting the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation Fund for Women and Children. This was the first run my children ran and as a parent who waited at the finish line I felt very comfortable letting them run at age 6 and 11 without me. The staff was readily available and quick to answer any concerns I had. Helpers were badged and set up all along the route to assist young runners.

My children ran this 5K and had a blast! With two waves of runners that take off about 2 minutes apart setting apart the competitive runners from the fun run/walkers. The course is set up to weave through the Give Kids the World Village with water stations, bubbles, and more. Runners can warm up before the race in the square with a licensed Zumba instructor. Many vendors set up with breakfast snacks and other goodies, including face painting for children of all ages. All runners receive a gingerbread man medal and cookie after crossing the finish line. The medal is adorable. The volunteers and staff make this event so much fun with games, confetti, and great music. Bus transport is available and very convenient as runners are requested to park offsite.

My young runners were signed up to run the Mickey Mile and it was cancelled the night before with concerns of a bad storm. The race was cancelled to early and the weather was not bad; with light rain and cool temperatures it would have been the best 8 minutes of my kids lives. Management offered a refund and a medal but it took 4 hours to get through the ESPN to get it. It was a mess and a lot of disappointed runners. We did not get to visit the expo because we couldn't find it. Not enough signage to the expo center. This was a very poor experience.
