I did the Rock Pink in '15. It's a race that occurs on Saturday night in the dark. The idea is that the course is lit up by pink lights but the problem is, they don't light up the course very well. I was lucky to be behind another racer, other wise I would have been lost in the dark a few times. I highly suggest running with a head lamp if you have one. The course is a favorite in Charleston at Riverfront park and many races happen in that area. It's easy and flat.

Before the race there are places set up that you can put glow in the dark body paint on yourself, the pink firetruck was there, and a lot of people are dressed up as there is a costume contest.

The best part of the race was the great 80's music at the finish line. The awards were kind of cheap this year as my age group award was a light up mug that broke before I even made it home.

** I did sign up for 2016 but due to weather they had to move the date and I was unable to attend. I did hear through other running friends that they had much cooler awards this year!

This is an absolute gorgeous trail run at the caw caw interpretive center. Hosted by the Chaleston County parks and the foot store, the race takes you out on some gorgeous trails. Make sure you bring bug spray with you when you come out as the bugs were a little rough that early in the morning.

The race took off on time and the trails were cleared nicely. There were a few roots that I had to look out for and we did run across some bridges but it wasn't that bad of a trail run. I was never fearing for my life over tripping over anything. There was a great local photographer out there getting wonderful pictures of us as well.

After the race there was an entire breakfast for those of us that ran including bacon, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, muffins, and grits. There was also beer and water available for us as well. There were a few vendors set up and a chiro who was there doing adjustments for free on people. The awards ceremony was fun and the awards for the winners were nice as well.

This was my second half marathon and it was a half marathon PR for me. The course is really pretty and will take you along a few easy trails along the waterways in Summerville. Most of the race is done on the road though. This course allows for some really pretty sights and through the city where you will have people cheering you on.

The aid stations were absolutely fantastic. Each aid station was sponsered by a different group and they were always out there to give out high fives and cheer on the racers.

I do wish there had been a more fun post race party. With our bibs we could receive one free drink at a local bar. The medals were really nice and so were the shirts. With limited half marathons in the Charleston area, I would say that this is one that would be worth signing up for.
