This year we had lots of rain. The race went on anyways. The race was pushed back about 15 minutes but there were absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Just as the rain the runners kept pouring in trying to make it on time.
There was a special moment for survivors with the small testimony of one of our local popular brewers who he himself beat Prostate cancer.
We honored those who beat it and those who are currently fighting it.
There were mariachis, the spurs coyote, tacos, fruit, Gatorade, beer and so much more.
Unfortunately the 10k has to be cancelled because the route further out was flooded. Once again there were no complaints because the price of the 10k was the same as the 5k. There was also a kids fun run as well as a 1 mile run.
This event is out in by some great people for a cause they truly believe in. This race is highly recommended.

Amazing. I decided to sign up the day of which of course turns out to be a little pricier but it turned out to be worth it. I’ll tell you why later.
The race begins at historic Stinson Airport grounds (102 yrs old) Yes, we were surrounded by some planes. Once the race began we went straight out onto the road and eventually hit our San Antonio Riverwalk. I didn’t sign up to win it but to run for a great cause. I don’t know how but little by little I was passing everyone up. All of a sudden I’m leading the race just having to hold up for a half a mile and Im taking the W.
The race had bbq, beer, fancy cupcakes, fruit and opportunity for pictures with planes and the helicopter. Yes the helicopter that would be giving a ride to first overall mala e and female. Winners got a certificate for the downtown tour on the helicopter.
(Medals too)
As usual one of our local time management companies was there which made the race go smooth.
Will be doing again next year.

It took my wife and I many years to run this race. We had heard many opinions on it. This year was no different. We had absolutely no interest in doing it. When about 2 weeks before we were invited to join on some teams as replacements for dropouts. We decided to accept and give it a shot. Our concern was not the weather. We knew how the weather was like in Corpus. We were concerned about getting each runner to their correct corral. Beach to Bay is a 26.2 mile relay race with each leg being different distances. The expo was a bit underwhelming. What should I expect when the race is located in a smaller city such as Corpus.
The morning of we woke up to 80 degree weather and 100% humidity. We all got into our vehicles and began our drive to the start. We dropped off our 3rd leg then our 1st and 2nd leg were very close to each other. The first leg is a 5k run on the beach. Which is then handed off to leg 2 which is run alongside the road. The third leg begins under the "bridge." The 3rd leg is a bit tough because you are climbing a pretty big bridge. The 4th leg is then run on a military base which is one of the least desired because it is described as the boring leg. The military men are their but that is it. My wife having run that one herself said their was absolutely no cheering or much support of any kind. Leg 5 and 6 are back on the road running past neighborhoods. These are good legs except for the fact that the heat is now rising and its only getting hotter.
The finish is located in a very well known location alongside the bay. The party is fantastic with much food to eat and re hydrate as well. I do not believe this race should be judged based off the race itself but instead logistics. If you can get all your runners to their spot on time you will have a fantastic experience. We are officially hooked. is it hot? Yes Is it humid? Horribly Is it worth doing? But of course.

This race was put together by city counsel man for District 4 in San Antonio. The race takes place in Port San Antonio a former Military Base here in town. As we arrived you can see there is plenty of parking. Being a city event there were many health booths and sponsors there. The race is definitely flat and good to attempt a personal record. Good hydration after the race except that they were "room temp." Can you really complain about a free chip timed race?

YES YES YES!! I have to warn you it is really really HOT! This is part of Fiesta in San Antonio a ten day festival. It begins on Wednesday and ends ten days later on Saturday. Fiesta consists of three parades the last one being on the tenth day on Saturday night known as the Flambeau Parade. Well The Fiesta Fandango run through the parade route and which consists of 2.6 miles. It runs from the beginning of the race to the end. There are no water stops only some great spectators handing some water out. The parking situation is great. We all meet Brackenridge Park parking lot, you can then pick up your packet or sign up. There is a costume contest and right afterwards we hop onto these nice comfortable buses and they drop us off a block from the start line. The course is flat and runs deep in the heart of downtown with somewhere around 650,000 spectators. Once you finish you walk down a block to a small downtown park where we have a party of our own. Plenty of fun for all runners and family. Once you are ready get in line and the buses are there to pick you right up and drop you off right back where it all began. Beautifully managed. This is my third year and expect to do it many more.
