I knew going in that this race was on a farm so I expected the rough terrain and really it didn't bother me, it was actually pretty cool to run through corn fields and pumpkin patches.
For a 5k, the swag was great! Everyone got a really nice finishers medal and if you chose to pay extra to carry a 10lb pumpkin while you ran, making the run a little more challenging, you received two medals. The long sleeve 1/4 zip hoodie is lightwait and comfortable and everyone also received a glass of cider and a pumpkin at the finish. There was also activities at the end for kids and adults alike. Parking was also free and there was plenty of room, they did a great job of moving traffic along.
Race management could have done better with the lines though. I could not pick up my packet and bib the day prior so had to do so when I got there. In this race, you had to sign up for a heat which was smart given the number of people that participated. However, people like me, whose heat didn't start until later, were picking up their bins while the earlier heats where at the start line. Bib pick up and the race start line were so close together that they were merging into a huge cluster of people and it was hard to figure out were you should be. Next year I will definitely be picking my bib up the night prior or paying the little extra to have it mailed to me.
The only other down side was that the gentlemen announcing the runners at the start line did not instruct walkers to begin at the back of the start line. There was no running through the start, I could have gotten on the ground and crawled faster than it took me walking through the start. The first 1/4 mile was so backed up for people wishing to run.
Overall, this was a great race with great amenities and lots of fun for everyone! It was great to see people dressed up in Halloween/Pumpkin gear! I would definitely recommend this race for anyone looking for a challenge! Next year I plan on challenging myself by carrying a 10lb while I run it!

This is the 2nd year that I participated in this race and it was just as good as last year. They keep the price low - $10 - to make it affordable to everyone and anyone. They offer bib packet pick up 11-6 the day prior or the morning of. Parking is free and there really isn't any bad parking.

At the start of the run, the play country music - it is a very exciting and energetic and experience.

The one downfall to this years race is all the rain we have been getting. The run goes through cornfields so with the weather leading up the the race, the terrain was slippery and muddy. I caught myself slipping a few times.

After the race, there is a huge expo with carnival type games and free swag.... Not just free swag - a TUN of free swag! Not only do you get a t-shirt, medal, and nice bag, but you also go home with so much free stuff you won't know where to put it!

Great family environment at a great cost?"!

This year was the 2nd annual Officer's Down 5K for Lehighton and also my second year participating. With that said, I kind of knew what to expect concerning the hilly terrain. This year I walked the 5K with my mom who is recovering from back surgery as I was also recovering from ACL surgery. What's great about this race - other than the cause - is that it is family, dog, and walker friendly.

Unfortunately, this year it snowed so it was cold and there was very few participants. However, the post race festivities were just as good as the first year - including face painting for the kids, local LE agencies selling their merchandise, music, and raffles.

I cant wait to go back next year!

I competed in this race a few months after having ACL surgery so I was unable to run the entire race, but that was ok. There were many people on the course that decided to either run/walk or walk the entire race. One of the best parts of the race, was that there were many families that chose to walk this race together with their young children. Unlike most 5Ks, everyone was also awarded a pretty nice medal at the end.

I had ACL surgery in May 2015 and "ran" this race in August 2015 - ok, so it was more like a light jog/walk. The terrain on this run was a little more difficult as it was through the corn fields at a local Bethlehem college. With that being said, the scenery was great! They also had blow up farm animals that, not only children but adults too, could stop and take pictures with.

Becca and Malone, from the local country radio station Cat Country 96.1, were at the beginning of the race making announcements and then at the end of the race, a country band placed live music. That wasn't the only amazing part of the end of the race - I went home with a bag load of freebies - from energy bars/drinks, different types of waters, snacks, and products!

Oh yeah, and I didn't even have to pay for this race. They had a few hundred coupon codes for free entries. Even if you could not get in for free, the normal fee is only $10 which makes the race everyone friendly!
