I ran Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon last year and it was the most fun and unique racing experience!
The expo the day before was at the Landsdown Resort which is great pace to stay and relax before and after the race. We enjoyed listening to the guest speakers and talking to the vendors. Race packets can also be mailed out or picked up at the race.
The start is next to the winery and allows for ample parking; gear drop was super easy and the changing tents were very helpful.
The best thing was the course: I could not believe seeing this beautiful scenery pretty much right in my backyard! The mix of flat, uphill, road, gravel and grass made for a varied and challenging course.
After the race we picked up the Wine Glasses we had purchased with the registration (they are required for the Wine tasting) and sat down on the lawn sipping the local wines. There were 4-5 wineries doing the tasting and selling bottles of wine.
I highly recommend this adventure!
