Overall this race was fantastic!

I hit the expo on Thursday, right when it opened. The parking was kind of a mess, they redirected us twice before we just decided to park on the street, about .5 miles down from the armory.
The expo itself was well organized. I was placed in the wrong corral, but the corral switch table was easy and they gave me zero hassle on moving up to corral 2 from 7 (I had registered almost a year prior). The vendors were great.

Race day i got there around 6:30. I was with a few friends who got the bag drop, which was well organized then hit the bathrooms. I was shocked there was only one row of portapottys. They really should have had more. Fortunately we were there early enough we didn't have to wait long. We got in our corral by 7:15 since we were close to the start. By 7:33 we were off. I was incredibly happy to see it wasn't too crowded at the start and we didn't need to do much weaving.
The blue mile was followed by a beast of a hill that knocked my pace down nearly a minute (from holding 7:20s to a 8:15 mile on that hill). The rest of the course was rolling hills through the neighborhoods of DC. Very pretty and great crowd support of residents and spectators.
The finish line was another minor uphill, but I still pulled out a 1:39 to finish. The bag pick up area, beer tents and metro back to our car was all incredibly easy. The metro situation was fantastic. We barely had to wait and there wasn't any waiting for several trains of people like I had heard it had been in past years.

I would definitely recommend this race!

This was my very first marathon and I loved it!

The expo was huge with so many great vendors. The shirts were okay. I know the mock turtle neck is the traditional shirt they do, but it's not very cute on either gender.

race day transportation was great. They have shuttle services from many parking garages. My husband dropped me off at one then headed off to the first spectator spot. The bus got us there with plenty of time. The starting area was fantastic. It took us about 30 mins to get through security, but once we were through it was no problem. There were more than enough portapottys, and the lines were all short.
The starting line was well organized and easily labeled with the expected finish time waves.
The race start was CROWDED. It really never let up until maybe 14-15 miles in. Course support was great and almost non stop throughout the entire 26.2 miles.

The last .2 miles up the hill to the Iwo Jima was brutal, but the marines standing to the sides were more than enough motivation to keep going and finish strong.
The medals were awesome! Very bright and patriotic. The post race fuel box was great and had lots of options in it.
The worst part of the post race was the ridiculously long walk from the finish line to the post race family meet up area. It had to be at least a half a mile long and completely brutal after beating yourself up through a marathon.
But overall, great race and I hope to do it again one year!
