2015 was the first year that I ran this long-standing annual race (38th year). The race was a blast from start to finish. 80% of the runners were dressed up in some kind of Christmas-oriented costume. The course starts along Santa Monica Beach and this year the sun was shinning and the clouds we're absent. The post-race festivities we're a fun deal, especially if you have kids. I will absolutely run this race again next year.

This was my first time running the New Year's Race (2016) and I came away with a very positive impression. The course itself was significantly more difficult than I figured, tons of hills, but was a welcomed challenge. The post-race festivities was top-notch and very inviting. I don't usually linger around too much after a races but I found myself enjoying the music, food trucks, and conversational celebrants. I will certainly run the race again next year and highly recommend anyone to sign up if you're looking for a great challenge to begin the new year.
