Gorgeous scenery in the Sierras; aid stations are a hoot; management of this race is superb; charity is the best. Great goody bags, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You feel completely at home. Course is pretty flat and yes, you may see a bear. The staff remembers you from year to year. I do several half marathons around Northern California and this one is by far my favorite. Altitude is around 4-5,000 feet but the race is relaxed so you don't need to worry. It is a Boston marathon qualifier. Don't know about the ease of accommodations but the parking is right there at the start/finish
