My mother-in-law wanted to run this race as a way to conquer her fear of the Bay Bridge. We ran it with a bunch of her girl friends. The day started a little chilly but the weather ended up being perfect racing weather! And the views looking out from the bridge were beautiful! While cups were not used (trying to make it a more green race), they had a huge water stop on the bridge for refilling bottles and even port-a-potties on the bridge. The only drawback to the race was that it was very crowded. Everything was organized well, but from the time we parked until the time we got the shuttles back to our car, I felt as though I was being herded like cattle. The busses returning to the parking areas were very crowded and traffic was very slow, so my knees and legs were sore for days after the race due to being crammed in the bus post-race for about an hour (I had the hump seat). I am glad I got a babysitter instead of bringing my toddler along to watch the race...she wouldn't have handled the crowding and the long bus rides well. Also, the bagels post-race were all moldy and they ran out of bananas. :/ However, to end on a high note - the medal is neat and the shirt is one of the coolest I've ever gotten at a race!
