Great race, especially the first half because there are many people around you. The second half is more sparse but Belle Isle is a great experience. There are fewer spectators the 2nd half, so you need to stay strong for yourself, but the last 5-6 miles has a lot of support to push you along. Overall great race!

A fantastic race if you can get in. Be prepared to have a packed field though and arrive early to avoid problems with the security. If you want to PR get at the very front, or you will be weaving in and out the whole race (like I did). The support is fantastic, especially the Mall and in Crystal City. Be prepared to have some time to get a shuttle out after the race, and if you want to hit the Brooks finisher tent. Be sure to thank the military there!
The expo is moving next year, so transportation will likely be an issue!

This is a great event to go to each year if you are close. The course goes through Lansing, Michigan State University's beautiful campus, and the River Trail. The Impression 5 Museum is a recipient of proceeds, and so they have great science facts posted along the course.
There is no Expo.... the After Party is a bit lacking, but the race itself is great! The medals are always nice, as are the shirts.
Race is in Sept, so you never know if it will be 40 degress or 70 degress.... I've experienced both!

This race is one hill after another.... with a SUPER big one in the middle! The shirt and medals from 2015 were terrible. The cartoons made it unimpressive. The previous year was simple, not exciting, but not tacky either. I hope they change it.
The weather is almost always great for late August. The support along the course is also a HUGE PLUS! I also like that it is a Saturday Morning race, so you can have the rest of your weekend to recover/party/whatever.
Overall... nice race!
