I have been to Leavenworth on numerous occasion but this is my first time running the Leavenworth Marathon. The majority of the race is run through the neighborhoods and town with the residents cheer us along the way. The aid stations were well staffed and super helpful. Running the trail along the river was incredible. I had a hard time not stopping to take pictures along the way. We even ran passed one deer eating right along the path who wasn't bothered by the hundreds of runners running by. There was only one photographer on the course who was well hidden in the bushes towards the end of the run. Had I had the forethought or knowledge that he was there I would have taken off my sunglasses.
