Fantastic race experience! This area is notoriously and deceptively hilly. You really can't run more than a few miles without hitting a hill or three. Race organizers clearly worked to map this course to balance the challenge with enjoyment! The first 7 miles included plenty of flats and downhills, so you're well warmed up before you hit the more challenging sections of the race. On course support is amazing-- plenty of aid and water stops, including full-strength sports drink! (yay!!) Although the morning was pretty sunny and warm, the course was almost completely shaded. After fighting through a couple of tough miles, the finish is a fun, confidence-building downhill! Really festive post-race atmosphere!! I love Race 13.1 events because they have a "big race" feel without the massive crowds. There's plenty of parking, easy access to the start, very short lines for beer and amazing post-race food! I appreciate that in addition to the 5K and 13.1, they also offer a 10K option-- I love that distance and it's often hard to find!
