Worst event! The lack of organization by HTC for the shuttle and race experience. The volunteers were great - thank you. The organizers - you need to step up to the plate and learn how to put on an event as you move forward. This was NOT a new event. You knew how many racers you needed to move to the 10K start line yet you did NOT have enough buses to move the people in the time allotted. It is simple math to know that if you have 2,000 racers, 1/2 hour minimum drive time turn-a-round, 1 hour time slot (so posted on your website) means a minimum of 20 buses - not 5!
Since I was waiting for a friend to arrive by shuttle we didn't start the 7:30am race till 8:50!!!!
I met one of the race 'officials', Dan, at the start line and said I would like to talk with him about the issues we were experiencing. His reply in a snide voice, "Now?" I said just wanted to know how to get in touch with him. He gave me his email address and walked away without any apology, thanks, or nice words. When I met him at the after party (he knew my friend and offered her a free race entry for her challenge) then offered nothing to her sister and me. Actually to me he said, "I remember you" and turned and walked away.
Hood to Coast Race Series needs to work REALLY hard to try and win back so many of the people that tried to do the race this morning. They have yet to listen to their clients, the runners and walkers, and offer customer service. There are too many great race directors in Oregon and Washington to deal with this company again.
I would advise everyone to think twice before purchasing a registration for one of their races.
