City Beer Runs are untimed races that take place at breweries around the San Francisco area. There are no road closures, but races are marked out by distance and usually include great San Francisco scenery and a fun after party at a brewery. This one was no different. The Social Kitchen and Brewery is located 1 block outside of Golden Gate State Park, so the run takes place 95% inside of the park. Talk about a fun and beautiful run!! Beware, this part of the city can get hot early on and there was a slight incline at the beginning of the second mile which slowed me down a bit. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this run, especially the fact that it is in the park where there are little stop lights to slow you down.

City Beer Runs are un-timed races that take place at breweries around the San Francisco area. There are no road closures, but races are marked out by distance and usually include great San Francisco scenery and a fun after party at a brewery. This one was no different. The race was right along the San Francisco bay 3/4 of the time under a bright blue Cali sky. The elevation was simple and the only issues were the red lights you periodically get stopped at. The Thirsty Bear Brewing Company was a great, fun after party host with great beer and food. In addition, the folks at City Beer always put on a great raffle that I have won something at every time!

This is a very fun race to run mostly because of the lively atmosphere, especially if you like a family friendly atmosphere. Whole Foods and a couple of Northern California breweries take part in the expo and post race party where you get fruit, a commemorative glass, and a free beer or root beer. The run itself is along the park and rec's trails and although there are a couple of spots where you are running towards faster runners, overall it is an easy and fun run. Also, plenty of strollers and dogs in the race!
