This was my first time participating in the Divas Half and 5K series and I had an awesome time! This race took place in North Myrtle Beach, SC. I was attempting my first half-marathon. My first goal was to find a hotel that was close to the starting and ending line since the area where we finished was near the area where we started. After comparing prices, I found a Best Western 2 miles away from the start/finish that was very reasonable with oceanfront rooms! Not only was I close for the race, but the expo was also minutes from this location. The expo was not as organized as other expos I attended where traffic logically flowed, but volunteers and vendors were friendly and there was a lot to see.

SInce I was so close I got dropped off at the start and walked back from the finish, I did not need to park but did past various lots where other runners had parked and saw buses traveling back and forth. Three bus drivers stopped for me on the main road as I was walking back to make sure I didn't need a lift.

The atmosphere was electric from start to finish as we ran through main roads, side roads, and beautiful beachfront neighborhoods before running parrallel to traffick on one of the main highways. The race was very well organized and well patrolled from start to finish along with aid stations located at each mile with water or gatorade and volunteers who cheered you on. In some areas a few residents were outside their homes with signs, cheers, and smiles. As we approach main roads the crowd thinned out and became more dense as we worked our way to the finish.

The elevation was basically flat with a few minor hilly areas. As I approached the ending of the race, a squad of adorable little local cheerleaders presented me with my boa and tiara to make it a true diva experience as I went across the finish line. Bubbly was also served with after race snacks and for those of us who did not drink there was sparkling juice waiting, along with handsome "hunks" to present the medals. Again, this was an excellent themed race from the start to the finish. This is definitely a series I would participate in not only in North Myrtle Beach but anywhere else!
