This is the second year I have participated in this race. I cannot describe in words how beautiful the venue is. The race is on a private 2000 acre farm that is kept nicer than any national park you have ever visited. The trails are wide enough to run three people wide. The race winds through woods and around fields that have a covered bridge, artistic statues, bubbling ponds, brooks and lakes lined with hand laid stone. The course marshalls are out all along the course to assist any of the runners and three of the course marshalls are on horse back! There is one long hill up a trail that is challenging and then the finish is at the top of a short but steep hill. This makes for a challenging/humbling finish line crossing, but I love this! The 5K race is a once around the course and the 10K is twice around the same course. You pass 2 water stations on the 5K and 4 on the 10K. They give you a cold bottle of water when you finish. The finisher medals are fancy and good quality and the t-shirts were cool this year, slim fit gray tshirts with red logos. They have a cowboy organization set up after the finish line playing music and giving "bull" rides and doing cowboy stuff.. Great family event. The best part of the race is that 100% of the money raised goes to Wings of Hope Ranch, a 501c3 Non Profit that rescues horses and uses them to minister to children facing conflicts and challenges.
