I've ran this race several times but usually run the 5K. I ran the half marathon for the first time in 2014 and will never miss it again. I love who this race is for since it's supports the US Marine Corp and the route is perfect and one I have ran numerous times. The only thing about this race that is a little bit of a downer is that there is no race expo. They have packet pick up the day before but there are no vendors or any race stuff available to purchase. This was a PR for me last year and I will do it again and again!

OK so if you have never ran the Gate River Run you have to put it on your race list because this is an awesome race. It is the largest 15K in the country and continues to grow. Jacksonville is a beautiful city to run through and the crowd support along the route proves to be non stop enthusiasm. There is not 1 step along this course where there is not someone cheering you on. The race expo is AMAZING! It is the largest expo I go to and the vendors are always awesome. There is one thing that is a downer about this race, it is crowded! If you don't like running is very large packs this race is not for you. It is a difficult race to set a new PR because you are constantly running around people or maybe even tripping over them. It is always difficult for a race to ensure runners start in their wave, but this one is terrible. People tend to start where they want meaning slower runners are always in the way. If this is not a big deal to you then make sure to get to Jacksonville in March because this is a race you don't want to miss!
