I was injured on a run three days before the race and had registered for the 5 mile race but after being hurt and barley getting a scab, I ran the 5K instead of 5 miler. I also did not get to the expo due to injures. It was not my fastest 5K but it was the first time I ran on the injuries. I was worried that my cuts would re-open while I was running, it did not. Many folks dressed up in Mexican gear which was fun to see. This was a race at Woodward Park and it was my first evening race. The race began at 7:30PM. Now I want to run it again.

It was around freezing at the start - there was little to no parking and not much room for cars at the start - I liked this course much better than last years - cold start - hot after that is elevation for you - started at 4600 feet climbed to 4750 then dropped to 1500 feet elevation - tough course for sure

I ran the whole half marathon this year, it was better being alone but some reason my tummy was not happy from about 5 miles into the race. I did things to try to calm my stomach but nothing worked. I did not feel better until after breakfast after the race. The free beer seemed to help also.

The race goes down in elevation from 4700 feet to 1300 feet with many curves and much road that slants on the curves, it is hard on the hips and knees due to the leaning of the roadway. The views are amazing but the course is hard. One can park at the end of the race, but the beginning has no parking. They do have a bus and an area to ride the bus to the start and from the end. The swag is the best at this race than any others I do.

I did this with a friend who did not think she could run the whole thing since she was coming off an injury. It was fun, but I wanted more. Photo is my friend and myself after the race. The day was warm due to the drought and I over heated, but that was my only concern.
