I ran on the Inaugural America's Run Virtual 5k (https://americaruns.com/virtual/) on Aug 13, 2020. I had a fun time running through my neighborhood for the run. I ended the virtual with a post part at Starbucks.

I ran the virtual run through my neighborhood. The swag for the race was nice. I received a medal, water bottle, shirt, bib, and hat.

The Hospital Hill Virtual 10K was a great race experience. I have heard great things about the physical race, but due to my work schedule I have not had an opportunity to run. I ran in my favorite neighborhood on a breezy May day. I logged my race results on the race website. I love the medal, tee shirt, and bib.

The half marathon was Christmas themed, complete with Santa Clause and a Snowman. This race was my first Christmas-like race.

Packet pick up
Packet pick was located at a small pavilion in downtown Mount Dora, about half a mile from the start. There was plenty of free parking on street and many cute shops in the area. Pick up was quick and easy. We received our bib and tee-shirts. A few vendors were selling running good. Bill Rodgers, former Boston and NYC marathon winner, was signing books and taking pictures with participants. Shannon C. and I were able to snap a picture with Bill.

Race Day
Nothing makes a race super fun more than rain. Yes, it rained throughout the entire 13.1 miles. Thankfully, it was mostly sprinkling, but it was still rain. I was at the tail end of my December bug, so I ran 30:30 intervals so I could breathe and walk at the end of the race. Mount Dora is like running in ATL, there are are plenty of rolling hills. I really liked running near all the bodies of water. The finish was beautifully decorated with Christmas relics. I ran a sub 3 and was very glad to finish. The medal was also really cute. The post race party had donut holes and fruit for the finishers.

Overall, I really enjoyed the race and may run it next year. My goal next year to improve my time. The race was a beautiful way to end my 2019 racing season.

I cannot believe that I came back again to run the Savannah Bridge Run Double Pump Race (5k+10k). Not that I don't enjoy Savannah, but running across the Talmadge Bridge 3 times is not for the faint at heart. My run buddy saw and loved the this year's medals at the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah expo so another year running on the bridge was in my future. This is how this year's event panned out.

Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up was held at the Savannah Civic Center again this year. The expo was small with a few vendors. We received our Double Pump Bib and tee-shirt. It was quick and easy task to get my packet and head out.

Race Day

5k Race
Since the Double Pump consist of two races, there were two different starting points. The 5k was the first race and it started at the International Convention Center. That race took us over the Talmadge Bridge the first time toward the Civic Center. Personally, I think the 5k is the best part of the race. It reminds me of running up Piedmont Road from Monroe to 14th Street. At the finish, there was a dedicated Double Pump chute for us to run through so we could light up for the 10k.

10k Race
The 10k is the most challenging of the two races. It was an out and back race form the Civic Center to the Convention Center (and back). This meant we ran over the Talmadge Bridge TWICE.  My first, which was my second time climbing the bridge was, fine. I walked my third and last time up the bridge. The finish was wonderful and the volunteers were amazing.

Overall I enjoyed the race. The medal this year was huge. The post race party was fun and the race offered free trolley rides back to start. Will I be back next year, only time will tell....

Rock 'n' Roll Savannah is one my favorite out of town races. It will always have a place in my heart since this is where I ran my first marathon five years ago. Since I have retired from marathons, this year I opted to run the half marathon. I also ran the 5k and 1 miler the day after the half marathon.
This year reminded me of Savannah 2014 in which the weather was perfect on both days. I had set a goal to run a sub 2 half marathon, while I didn't reach the goal I had fun and enjoyed the race.

The Expo
The expo was sponsored by Brooks and held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Packet pick up was super easy. The race provided kiosks that runners could use to look up their race numbers. I got three bibs (1 for each race) and my shirts for each race. The Brooks section was huge with plenty of merchandise. My favorite part of the expo was the name walls for each race. I am sucker for name walls and happily found my name for each race that was posted.

The Race Day
The race started at 7:30 am near the River Walk. I like that we have opportunity to hangout in the Hyatt and use real restrooms while we waited to take off. Running in Savannah is breath of fresh air compared to running in ATL. After going over the bridge in the first mile of the race there are no other hills. The perfect weather mixed with all the Savannah squares made the race really enjoyable. I loved the crowds and talking to the other runners. The race course was the same as it was previous years.

When I registered for the race in spring, I had planned to run a sub 2 race so I was placed in corral 3. Due to the heat this summer and my commitment to training, I didn't meet the goal. However, I really enjoyed the race and I cut off 9 minutes from 10 mile race time from October. I plan to keep working on my sub 2 goal at each of my half marathons.

Overall, I enjoyed Rock 'n' Roll Savannah and I hope to run the half marathon next year. My only suggestion for improvement I have for the race, is to not make the half marathoners walk so far to pick up their checked items. Thanks Savannah for another great race!
