The Big Sur International Marathon is regularly regarded as the most scenic race in America and it’s obvious why. As one nomination put it, “This Marathon will truly humble you. From the mountain climbs to the endless view of the ocean, you live your appreciation of what this world has to offer.”

From views of mountains and oceans, to redwoods and the iconic Bixby Bridge, the race also adds an assortment of musicians and other entertainment along the way….including ponies?! Who can say no to ponies?!? Ok, maybe they are horses that look like ponies from afar. Either way, clearly the race organizers pull out all the stops to make every mile of this course memorable.

And, on top of the 26.2 miles, every other part of race weekend is handled smoothly. Race day transportation runs like clockwork and the aid stations are well-stocked and organized. Needless to say, it’s understandable why Big Sur continues to sell-out every year and is regarded as one of the best races in America.
