1. registration/packet pickup -- online/on-site registration - no race day registration -- packet pick at the outdoor expo -- there is also a farmers market so get some fresh fruit and vegetables -- well organized and easy in and out -- this year there was some construction going on in the area and there should be more parking and easier to get around the area
2. hotels -- we stayed across the river in portland about 3 miles away -- fairfield inn, courtyard, residence inn -- there is also an embassy suites close -- a few other brands in that area -- also close to the portland airport -- still need a car rental --
3. race day / start --- marathon starts at 7am and half at 9am -- did not like that -- would like to see an earlier start for the half but I think I know the reason since both start/finish in the same place -- I've seen this before -- dont like it -- but it is what it is --
4. course -- I starts out with steady inclines -- not really hills but it just continues so I have to upgrade to hilly -- just so some of you runners will not be suprised -- between mile 6 and 8 is probably the worst part of the run with the longest steepest hill -- good water/gatorade stations -- course runs thru town and by the river and thru several parks -- I did see several irate drivers at intersections not wanting to wait on the runners and the volunteers (no police at the interection) doing all they could to keep the runners safe but the drivers just went on thru the intersection --
5. post-race -- good support at the end of the run with water/gatorade/food-- then a beer garden-with food to buy -- also the farmers market --

overall this is well organized and well run, good support -- a good course -- I recomend this run -- it is a gem of a run
