This was my first half marathon! Unfortunately I had got chest congestion and a bad cold. I’d hoped that this cold would have gone away before the race but it didn’t. I took some cold medicine before the race but it proved to be more of a hindrance than help. I started off pretty well running a 9:15 pace till mile 8 when I felt like I was going to throw up! I don’t know how I finished the last 5 miles. I know my pace slowed down to over a 11 minute mile by the time I reached mile 13. Another running life experience! The good news is that I set a new Personal Record because it was my first half at 2:12:56 with 5k split at 29:43 and 10k split at 59:02. Overall pace 10:08. Not bad for a first half despite being sick.
This was a really cool scenic run. The expo was rather lame but the after party was great! If I wasn't sick I could have enjoy more. Being this my first half...I'll never forget it!!
