Tedrick Kelly's thoughts:

If you are looking to PR on the half or full this could be your race. This was the 9th year of this race and year after year, it has been a favorite to runners from all over attempting to BQ. The course is made for fast times and typically delivers. The only real hills you will encounter on this race is in the first 3 miles and last 3 miles(it's an out and back course). The course is 80% trails and the rest is on the road. The course is fast but you will pay for it with the spectators. There just isn't a lot of areas for spectators to camp out so most of the race it is just you, the other runners and trees. Upon finishing you get to ring the bell if you get yourself a PR so there is typically a lot of ringing. Nice finisher's medals and all participants received a free pair of Features socks. Come check out North Carolina and give the Tobacco Road Half/Full a try, there is a good chance you PR.
