So I finally sucked it up and signed up for my first half! After months of training, race day finally came! The race started and ended at Raley Field in West Sacramento, which meant plenty of parking and a large venue to gather at.

I had no idea how many people would be running this race. I was in wave three and it seemed like forever until it was my turn to go. It took 2 min from the gun start to get to the start in my group. The course was mostly flat with a few inclines for bridges and overpasses. It lead us through downtown and across the river. There was a nice mix of city streets and paved trails. It was a great race to do my first half.

PROS: Terrain was fairly easy, accessible for runners and spectators, nice venue to start/finish
CONS: Long lines at post race party, took almost an hour to get out of parking lot
