I ran the WithLove 5K this morning. It's a 5K race that benefits "WithLove," a local charity dedicated to "helping kids be kids" as they go through a battle with cancer. It's an incredible cause, and maybe an even better race!
I arrived about 25 minutes before the race and I parked about 200 feet from the start/finish line. There were only 2 porta-potties, but since there were only a little more than 100 of us, it was okay.
The course for this race was an out and back throughout World Golf Village, a beautiful area in St. Augustine. Usually I hate out and back courses because of the repetitiveness, but this was great. It felt like a different course on the way back, and there were plenty of views of the golf courses. All 5K finishers received a really cute medal, and the "swag bag" included a tshirt, koozie, and a frequent buyer card to Sippers Coffeehouse.
After the 5K, my friend and I took part in the kids' fun run. This was one of the best parts of the day, because the kids were all so fun and excited for the event.
I liked how all of the vendors were related to the charity. WithLove does a lot of toy drives for the kids at local hospitals, so they were accepting new toys. There was also a table for people to sign up for the National Bone Marrow Registry! I'll definitely be doing this race again in the future!
