This race is the only time of the year that the Airforce Base closes down the runway and civilians get a chance to see it. The course is entirely on the runway which does make for a hot day in June but you do get the fun of running through the C-17s. This is a cheaper race at only $20. There are no race shirts but this year we got race flip flops! Totally awesome swag that stands out against the traditional shirts that most races provide.

It is not difficult to get on base, just have your ID ready. Once you get to where you park, you do have to get wanded for security. The only complaint I had this year was that the bathrooms were on the other side of the security, so once you were inside, you had to go back out and get re-screened if you had to go use the port-a-potty.
Awards are really cool as the overall male and female winner get a piece of the runway. Award medals are also given to top 3 in each age category. This year the fire department was set up with a hose spraying us like a waterfall at the end of the race that felt so good. As well, we were greeted with a towel with ice wrapped in it as we crossed the finish line.
There were ice pops, water, granola bars, and bananas for the racers at the end.

The fun part is that you can actually go inside one of the planes and tour it while you are waiting for the results/awards ceremony.
