Tedrick Kelly's thoughts:

This was the first year of the Raleigh Half Marathon. Which was attempting to fill the void left when Rock and Roll series decided to stop coming to Raleigh. There were more than a few hiccups that I hope they will correct in the years to come. The race was set to begin a little later than 99% of the half marathon I've run, at 8am. The start time was pushed back to 8:15 to allow for more people to make it from the shuttle. The race is an out and back in Neuse River Greenway, which runs along side the Neuse River. You can't account for weather but a race must be equipped to handle it. Race day was very warn and 100% humidity, which left a lot of runners struggling. The sports drink at water stations were not properly mixed and aid stations ran out of water. In that weather, makes for dangerous conditions for runners. Finish line refreshments was only a little bottle of water and half a banana, definitely not enough. Medals were small, more like a medallion. I did really like the finish of the race, the last quarter mile is a lap around track to the finish line. The race has potential, so I hope most of Hiccups are fixed by my year
