Kristin Elam's thoughts:

I want to start by saying that this was my First Half Marathon! I thoroughly enjoyed it and it made me fall in love with the 13.1 distance.

COURSE
This year it was ran on St. Patrick's Day which added an extra little festive aspect. You start in front of Centennial Olympic Park and the course winds you through the city. Along the way you run through Georgia State University then pass by the King center and Ebenezer Baptist Church. You run over a bridge that gives you an amazing view of the skyline and also pass by the historic Carter Center and through the crazy fabulous Little 5 Points. Then you find yourself in Piedmont park, and then winding your way through Georgia Tech's beautiful campus. After that you run past the Aquarium and World of Coke, down to the College Football Hall of Fame and CNN to find yourself crossing the finish line back in Centennial Olympic Park.

For someone that has grown up here this was an amazing run down memory lane for me. I got to see things I haven't had the time to in awhile. The other great aspect is the phenomenal food you will smell as you're running. It will incite a major dose of hunger.

SHIRT & MEDAL
I honestly really like the shirt and medal from this year. They had green shirts that had symbols that encompassed different aspects of atlanta. Everything from the dogwood flowers, to the aquarium, to the zoo, to the bricks at centennial and the skyline.
The medal is heavy duty. The half one had the city skyline and a dogwood flower that spins. Quality medal!

PARKING
With many streets blocked off due to the race, parking can be difficult to find. I always prefer to use MARTA whenever I go into the city anyways. It makes it easier and each trip is only $2.50.

EXPO
Honestly there wasn't much of an expo. They did have Clif Bars passing out samples and Terrapin was there with samples and giveaways. I was able to get 2 free tour passes!

AID STATIONS
This race has had the best aid stations I have ever seen. There was a station every 1.5 miles or so. Every other one had water and powerade. 2 of the stations had fuel for us with clif gels and oranges.

THE END
At the end of the race they give you a disposable jacket which is decent quality to wear multiple times. They give you chocolate milk, water, fruit, and muffins. Along the course the are plenty of photographers taking pictures and you're given a link to download them for free! Who doesn't love free pictures to remember?!

I will definitely be recommending this race. I hope to run it again in the future. It's a wonderful course and The Atlanta Track Club treats you right.
