I ran this race, because I had always said I wanted to run a winter race to see if I could handle it. All in all, it wasn't too bad. Of course, it was cold, but once you got going, it was fine. It IS a winter race in Chicago, IL, after all....so you gotta roll with the punches if you sign up for it. The course had some massive puddles. So, you had two choices: 1) run through them and get your feet soaked, 2) go around the puddles and run in the snow/slush/mud...and get your feet a little less soaked. I think the race organizers did the best they could with the course.

However, where I think they failed was the aid stations. There were only FOUR--for a 14 mile race, that just didn't seem right. They were at miles 4, 5.5, 7 & 9--AND NOTHING AFTER MILE 9?! I honestly would recommend this race to others, but I would tell them to definitely check the event website, and find out where the aid stations are, and prepare accordingly. I really have no complaints about any other aspect of the race. Overall, it was good, and I may just run it again next year.
