This race gave out quarter zip jackets instead of the typical race tshirt which was awesome! The design was unique and the color was red which I loved! They were lightweight for perfect for layering but you'd need a bit more for colder weather.
The marathon course was mainly rolling hills with some flat stretches mixed in. The hills can easily wear you out early if you're not careful! The aid stations were stocked with sports drink and water with snacks. Off the top of my head I remember gels, fruit, gummy bears, and pretzels. Most aid stations had multiple options. I thought this was more than what you'd find at the typical marathon which was definitely a perk of this race. The course really didn't have many spectators which I think was ok for this course. It was very scenic and spectators might have detracted from that.
The expo was overall on the smaller side but I thought it was very well put together. There were TONS of local races there which was great, as I recently moved to the area and am still trying to learn race options. There were only a few there that weren't associated with a race which didn't bother me but may be a drawback for others.
The race did utilize shuttles, but I cannot comment as much on that because I was picked up and dropped off. The marathon race start had tons of parking and it was easy to get in and wasn't backed up. Parking was more limited in Port Angeles so it definitely seemed easier to park at the start (plus that way you can sleep in a little later!). It was nice that they offered shuttle options regardless of if you parked at the start or finish that way you could plan a bit more based on what was easiest for you.
Overall I would say that I would run this race again for the scenery and the quarter zip! My only complaint was that they ran out of heat sheets. It was a cold day to begin with and I ran the last couple miles in the rain. I didn't stick around at the finish for long because I was cold and wet but might have longer had the race had more sheets left. I finished around 4:30 so there was still a good amount of runners behind me.
