Join us in the City-by-the-Sea for this stunning marathon, half marathon and 5k. Newport Rhode Races kicks off Daffodil Days with the races starting from Easton’s Beach where nearly 100,000 daffodils will be in bloom. (We’ll call it Dash through the Daffodils!)

The first half of the course highlights the best of Newport with craggy shores, wide open ocean vistas, historic mansions and intricate architecture. After passing Easton’s Beach at the half way point, the full heads out to Middletown past Hanging Rock and Surfer’s End to a challenging course with more gorgeous views. The race finishes back along the water at Easton’s Beach.

The Marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Easton’s Beach in Newport, RI. The Half Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. from the same location. The 5k will follow at 8:15 am – all from the same beautiful seaside start.

Samantha Roderigues's thoughts:

Expo - I didn't attend.

Packet Pickup - I did day of pickup and it went smoothly with pretty much no wait.

T-shirts/SWAG - A nice technical t-shirt and a cool medal that can be combined with the medals from the other races in the series (like a puzzle) to create a giant medal! I'm doing the series and personally think it's really fun to get a new piece each race. They also take a good amount of high quality free photos!

Aid Stations - Even on a cooler day you're going to need them since you're so close to the water you'll end up covered in salt. They were well spaced and never too crowded so I was always able to grab a cup on the go. (I only drink water so unsure how nutrition was.)

Course - This course is my absolute favorite! The views are non-stop gorgeous! Even when you aren't running right along the water, you're running through the beautiful historic mansions! I would say it's rolling hills pretty much throughout the course.

Parking - The first time I ran this race I took the shuttle from the parking lot. It was easy enough, but I also am someone who likes to have their car nearby for changing layers a bunch of times before the race. This past year I was a "Rhode Master" (running the whole series) so I got to park in a special lot that was pretty much at the start line.

Start Line - I almost missed the start, but that was my own fault (they announced it plenty). It was slightly hard to get to last minute since the barricades went pretty far down the road.

Overall I would highly recommend this half! So far it's the only half I've loved so much I've run it multiple times and plan to probably continue every year!
