Join us in the City-by-the-Sea for this stunning marathon, half marathon and 5k. Newport Rhode Races kicks off Daffodil Days with the races starting from Easton’s Beach where nearly 100,000 daffodils will be in bloom. (We’ll call it Dash through the Daffodils!)

The first half of the course highlights the best of Newport with craggy shores, wide open ocean vistas, historic mansions and intricate architecture. After passing Easton’s Beach at the half way point, the full heads out to Middletown past Hanging Rock and Surfer’s End to a challenging course with more gorgeous views. The race finishes back along the water at Easton’s Beach.

The Marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Easton’s Beach in Newport, RI. The Half Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. from the same location. The 5k will follow at 8:15 am – all from the same beautiful seaside start.

Michelle Ladonne's thoughts:

I would definitely do this marathon again - although if I had the opportunity, I would probably just stick with the half. Transport to the race is fairly easy to navigate, with a bus pickup from Second Beach down to the starting area. It was freezing before the race, but there was a small area to wait inside, which was key. The first half of the course was incredibly scenic, running along the ocean and down Bellevue Ave with views of the mansions - I loved it! Since most runners do the half, the second part of the marathon was pretty lonely, and a little tough as it ran right past the half marathon finish - so discouraging! The back half of the course had some scenic spots as it ran past the beach, but it was largely through residential areas and made it feel like it would never end! Definitely sticking with the half next time...
