A great St. Patrick's Day weekend race in New England. The year I ran was bitterly cold, which made the starting area a bit challenging, but the crowds definitely added to the excitement of this popular local race. Many runners were decked out in Irish/green costumes, which made spectating a lot of fun. The course had some rolling hills, including a memorable one toward the last mile, but I enjoyed running along the water and through the city of New Bedford. The only downside to this race was a total lack of gels, Gatorade or any other electrolyte replacement along the course. Had I known, I would have carried my own, but as it was, I was dizzy and disoriented toward the finish. Lesson learned!
