I do not even know where to start with this race! The expo was great. The building they had it in was beautiful! I laid everything out the night before the race and knew that they were calling for pouring rain from 2am through to the next afternoon. LOTS OF RAIN! I woke middle of the night to hear the downpour and was restless thereon. I met two girls in the hotel lobby to go to the subway with so our spouses did not have to wait in the rain - they would come to finish later. We had garbage bags over us leaving the hotel. Our feet were already soaked when getting to the subway. The subway was packed but moved well as they had plenty extra on. Once we got off the subway I was surprised how far the start was to get to. We stopped at washrooms along the way as lineups looked bad upahead. We got the start line and it was chaos. No wave starts - people lined up wherever they felt. Not sure if this was usual or because of the weather. The race started and I felt like I was running around obstacles of people for the first 2 miles. The pack then separated a little. There were more hills in this route than I expected - so be sure to train for hills! I trained for it and was glad I did! The rain pretty much poured until i was at mile 18. The wind and rain were warm - not cold - but the wind blew sideways so was harder to keep breathing properly. Once the rain stopped it was FULL ON sun! Hot! A lot of scenic areas - which was very nice! I did not finish strong. I think I left all I had in the first 18 miles! But I finished and that was what I set out to do! Not sure if I will be back to this race.
