The Kutztown Fools Run featured a 2 mile walk, 5K and 10 miler distance. The 10 miler cost $30 and included a pink tech tee. The registration fee goes towards scholarships to Kutztown University.

The course was mostly country roads with hills, be prepared to run hills. There were plenty of water stops along the 10 mile course, however, no restrooms. I drank a lot of water and had to veer off into the woods around mile 6. Traffic was not closed off during the entire race, however, race support was excellent. Lots of cones and marked off areas for cars and people at nearly every intersection. People along the course also made sure cars traveled slowly.

The 10 miler featured the Bob Focht Memorial Mile, I have no idea who Bob Focht is and why he gets a Memorial Mile, I think this information could have been made more prevalent to runners. A pamphlet of “Who’s Bob” in the race packet would have been nice. The website can be improved, directions, starting address and time of runs were hard to find. I personally think this information should be front and center on any website.

Overall, great experience for either a training run or pace race. Price was reasonable, parking was easy and race support was excellent.
