Renee Barr's thoughts:

Chicago is an amazing city and a great place for a race!
The expo is decent sized and although I didn't purchase anything there were a lot of options. There was a fun "photo booth" too, so we took advantage of having some fun with that. They had quite a few samples which is always a plus in my book 😉
I did like the different designs on the shirts because the two I have from previous years are pretty much the same design just different colors. It was also nice that when registering for the race it said that the shirts ran small. You also could exchange at the expo if you're didn't fit.
Getting to the race was super easy and I loved the early start time, especially with how hot the weekend was.
I feel that the corrals were too small and way too crowded. It was tough even getting into the corral but other than that I really have no negative remarks.
The half and the 10k start out together but only for a short time, they then split off and the half runs through the city and the 10k heads to the lakefront path.
I have run the half here twice in the past and have always enjoyed it. This year dealing with plantar fasciitis prevented me from running the half again so I opted for the 10k. I was pleasantly surprised at how long we ran along the lakefront. The views were awesome! There were not a lot of spectators on the 10k course but I was okay with that because I was busy just enjoying the beautiful lake views.
The volunteers were great and always greated you with a smile.
They have bands on the course as well as at the finish line party. Who doesn't love live music and an ice cold beer?!
I also really like the medal. This years theme was Chicago's famous foods so the shirts and the medals incorporated pizza and hot dogs. I definitely will be back in the future because I love Chicago and I love how this city puts on a race!
