This beautiful race takes place in the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia during prime leaf season. We were coming in from Texas and Adventure Enablers made it such a wonderful experience!
I loved the opportunity to pick up bibs the morning of the race. Along with my bib was a soft tshirt and a mug. My husband did the 10k and was given the same things.
Parking was on site, at the local high school. The restrooms were open for us, so that was a great convenience to have!
The race started on time and a few hundred runners were off. The "rolling hills" that were advertised was a bit misleading- there was a handful of steep and long hill climbs on the course. Aid stations were stocked with water and Gatorade every 3 ish miles. The course runs through town, in and around the local college campus, and on a riverside trail. The 10k was one loop, and the half marathon completed the loop twice.
Runners were greeted with fresh apple pie at the finish- it was delicious!!
Overall, this was a beautiful course and well Organized race. Should we ever be in Virginia in October again, I will definitely run it!
