This was the very first year for the Golden Driller marathon.
This race also had a half marathon and a relay. The relay was a team of two, both people ran 13.1 miles.
Overall
I'm glad I was a part of the inaugural race! The medal is great too! The medal is the Golden Driller who is famous around Tulsa. See pic below.
T-Shirt/Swag
We got a nice tech shirt in our race registration and a great medal. Can't really ask for more. The shirts were a little big though.
Aid Stations
Aid stations had water and Nuun. They were a little far apart. But the volunteers were great!
Course Scenery
The course wasn't very exciting. It was on our paved running trail system. It was an out and back. There was one big hill that you hit twice, but the rest was pretty flat.
Expo Quality
There isn't really an expo. There is a packet pickup at the local fleet feet store who puts on the race. There was also race day packet pickup.
Elevation
The course was mostly flat with 1 hill that we ran twice due to the out and back nature of the course.
Parking
Parking was free and there was plenty of it for the race. It was so close to the finish line I could throw a rock and hit it.
Race Management
Fleet Feet Tulsa always puts on a great race! They are typically smaller/local events, but they don't disappoint!
