Vincent 's thoughts:

The day before the race I headed to the expo to pickup my packet and it went very smooth. They were very organized and you got your stuff in no time and with no wait. The expo was good not the best I ever been to but there was lots of great things for runners to do and a good amount of free things to snag while viewing the expo.

The morning of the race you couldn't have asked for better weather. It was a cool morning little to no wind. Everything was marked great and it was easy to maneuver around the starting area. On the starting line I got to meet my pacer and he was very friendly and made me feel more comfortable with the 26.2 miles that stood ahead of me that morning.

The course was perfect with the scenery. You run through many of the high tourist areas in St. Louis. You run through the Budweiser brewery, forest park, and all throughout the downtown area. The water stations were great and there was always a smiling face handing you either water or gels. Most water stations had some special group like local college/high school cross country teams, different college/high school clubs, and things like that handing things out. The course had some pretty hill spots like between mile 6-8 which they call "Holy Hill" which is a blast. They have a priest from a local church their would splash holy water on the runners that wanted it. The finish of the race is awesome! As you are running into the finish you can see the Gateway Arch in the distance and it is just a beautiful site.

The race swag is pretty nice you get a really cool shirt that is moister wicking and a really nice medal. I was a little disappointed I didn't get like a pull string bag or something else with the shirt like other marathons and bigger races I have ran. That's more of a little thing that isn't really that big of a deal.

Overall this was a great race and I would advise anyone looking for a marathon to run as their first one to take this race! It is a great race that is well organized! I would also suggest anyone just looking for a quality event to come and run any of the races that occur during the Marathon weekend.
