This year was my first time doing the Tri Goddess Tri; friends have done it over the years and have told me how much they enjoyed the event. They were right! Unlike other triathlons, there was no cuthroat, must-beat-you atmosphere, but one of women supporting women in their triathlon endeavor. Yes, the events -- Sprint, Mini-Sprint, Duathlon -- attract elite and competitive athletes, but many participants are giving triathlon a tri for the first time, while others are physically active but have never competed and yet others are doing it to be able to say they were able to accomplish a physically challenging goal. Couldn't ask for better swim conditions; the course was well marked, with lifeguards stationed throughout the course. The bike course was likewise well marked and challenging but not to the point that would draw tears from the less athletic. The run -- first on the road, then on the trail -- was similarly clearly marked and rolling, again, providing just enough of a challenge for racers. Gorgeous medals on colorful, unique ribbons; a nice selection of age-group awards; fabulous expo; great swag; helpful and friendly staff and volunteers. This race will be on my To Do list for next year!
