Samantha Andrews's thoughts:

I cannot believe that I came back again to run the Savannah Bridge Run Double Pump Race (5k+10k). Not that I don't enjoy Savannah, but running across the Talmadge Bridge 3 times is not for the faint at heart. My run buddy saw and loved the this year's medals at the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah expo so another year running on the bridge was in my future. This is how this year's event panned out.

Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up was held at the Savannah Civic Center again this year. The expo was small with a few vendors. We received our Double Pump Bib and tee-shirt. It was quick and easy task to get my packet and head out.

Race Day

5k Race
Since the Double Pump consist of two races, there were two different starting points. The 5k was the first race and it started at the International Convention Center. That race took us over the Talmadge Bridge the first time toward the Civic Center. Personally, I think the 5k is the best part of the race. It reminds me of running up Piedmont Road from Monroe to 14th Street. At the finish, there was a dedicated Double Pump chute for us to run through so we could light up for the 10k.

10k Race
The 10k is the most challenging of the two races. It was an out and back race form the Civic Center to the Convention Center (and back). This meant we ran over the Talmadge Bridge TWICE.  My first, which was my second time climbing the bridge was, fine. I walked my third and last time up the bridge. The finish was wonderful and the volunteers were amazing.

Overall I enjoyed the race. The medal this year was huge. The post race party was fun and the race offered free trolley rides back to start. Will I be back next year, only time will tell....
