Jenn 's thoughts:

I ran this race in 2010 and 2011 when it was still brand new to the Long Island area.

The expo was great. It's your standard race expo, but I love how they got so detailed that there was glitter all over the floor. I didn't wait in line for very long to get my race number, which is always a good thing. The shirt is a high quality tech shirt, and each city of the race gets its own custom "Diva" design.

The course is very similar to the Long Island Half Marathon, except that it starts and finishes in Eisenhower Park. For me, parking was very easy. My mom dropped me off at a bank across the street from the park, and it was an easy 1/2 mile walk to the start.

Just like the LI Half, the course is a little boring at times, and I didn't notice a lot of crowd support (locals cheering). Of course, since it's a similar course to LI, it's flat, flat, FLAT, which makes it a great course to PR on. The water stops were great, and the volunteers were awesome.

The thing that makes the Divas Half different is that you get different things on the course. At Mile 11, there is a boa and tiara station. Running with the boa is a little confusing at first, especially if you almost strangle yourself with it like I did. I was afraid of breaking my tiara, so I held it. Most people around me slowed down a little to put it on.

The medal is HUGE. I have a lot of race medals, and this is easily the biggest one I own. It screams "Diva" and is so awesome (but a little heavy to walk around wearing!) that it was my main reason to run the race again. The race is during a perfect time of year in New York where it's not humid, and just cool enough (without being freezing) that the weather is great.
